Provincial: Caring for the Caregiver: Workshop for parents and families of autistic children, youth, and adults

We invite you to join Autism Ontario staff to discuss the support needs of parents and caregivers. This workshop will provide information on strategies for improving well-being and supporting with caregiver burnout. We will discuss self-care strategies, self-compassion, mindfulness, and the importance of finding joy. We will also discuss how caregivers can make connections and access informal and formal supports.
This workshop is appropriate for parents and families of autistic children, youth, and adults, as well as professionals working with this population.

Danielle Nolan, MSW RSW, Social Worker - Subject Matter Expert: Social Work, Training & Education, Autism Ontario
Danielle Nolan is a Registered Social Worker with over a decade of experience supporting autistic children, youth, and families across Ontario. Danielle completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Queen’s University and her Master of Social Work at the University of Toronto. Danielle has experience in child welfare, children’s treatment and rehabilitation, children’s mental health, and pediatric social work in a hospital setting. Danielle has published studies in the journals of Alcohol and Alcoholism, Child: Care, Health, and Development, and Child Abuse and Neglect focusing on neurodivergent populations. Since 2022, Danielle has been an employee of Autism Ontario, supporting a variety of training and education initiatives including the implementation of the Content Advisory Committee, consultation to Access OAP, and the creation of various workshops, webinars, and resources supporting mental health promotion across the lifespan. Danielle is part of Autism Ontario’s Subject Matter Expert Team.
