Building Brighter Futures Fund
We will accept online-only applications for the Building Brighter Futures Fund from July 2, 2024 - August 1, 2024. Successful applicants will be chosen in August by lottery.
How BBFF Got Started
"Autistic children grow up to be autistic adults." This message from Autism Ontario's advocacy efforts has been central to our strategic directions in working with families and autistic individuals across their lifespan. Autistic adults receive substantially less private and public funding. While the number of unsupported autistic adults continues to grow, resources remain comparatively sparse.
Autism Ontario was approached by informed and thoughtful supporters about providing concrete ways to specifically support autistic adults. Their personal commitment and generous donations helped us realize a long-held dream to create a fund that would open doors for autistic adults across the province. In 2012 Autism Ontario was pleased to announce the Building Brighter Futures Fund (BBFF).
Purpose of BBFF
BBFF provides financial assistance directly to autistic adults in Ontario through reimbursement of funds spent to access greater participation in their local communities.
Program fees for recreation or skill development, respite, professional support, tuition, or other creative solutions connected to building life plans for autistic adults will be considered for reimbursement.
If you are a successful lottery applicant, we will request receipts for money you have already spent, up to $500. We accept receipts from January 1, 2024, to September 30, 2024.
An individual may receive this reimbursement only once.
We are always seeking new donations for the many adults who have applied, but whom we have not been able to serve. Please consider donating to the Building Brighter Futures Fund so we can provide financial assistance to autistic adults. Services and funding are severely lacking for adults in Ontario and by donating, you are opening doors for autistic adults.
