Central West - Virtual Cooking Program (ages 10-18)
Children/youth with ASD across the Central West region (Hamilton, Halton, Peel, Waterloo, and Wellington) are invited to participate in 5-weeks of cooking classes. They will advance their culinary skills with this program led by Anthony Go, chef-in-training at George Brown College and adult with ASD.
This program will be supported by Big Spoon Lil Spoon - McMaster & Mississauga, student-run organizations that help teach children life skills along with mentorship. The program strives to teach healthy living practices to children with exceptionalities.
Each week will feature a new recipe that will be emailed in advance and families are responsible for purchasing their own ingredients before the weekly session. Children/youth will be able to learn new skills supported by a student mentor.
This program is open to children/youth with ASD ages 10-18.
This program was generously funded by President's Choice Children's Charity.
President's Choice Children’s Charity grants local, non-profit organizations funds to deliver nutritious food and food-based education programs across Canada, fueling learning and empowering children and youth to make healthier choices. We believe access to good food and food education provides the foundation, so children can learn and grow, improving their well-being, making a positive contribution to the world around them – now, and in the future.
