Bear Witness Day with Autism Ontario

Open to Indigenous families with autistic children that are clients at Barrie Native Friendship Centre or Indigenous families who are working with Debra Waylen (Autism Ontario).
Join Autism Ontario as we celebrate Bear Witness Day by building your own cuddly bear!
May 10th is Bear Witness day, which honours Jordan River Anderson and invites everyone to “Bear Witness” to ensure Jordan’s Principle is fully implemented. It is also Spirit Bear’s birthday! Jordan's Principle is a child first principle and legal rule named in memory of Jordan River Anderson. It ensures First Nations children receive the services and supports they need, when they need them.
You will make your way through an interactive process and create your very own furry friend.
1. Choose Me: Pick 1 of 2 furry friends
2. Hug Me: Put in a special heart that holds your love and wishes, give your furry friend its first hug.
4. Dress Me: Decorate a custom shirt for your new friend
5. Make me a home and take me home. Decorate your friend's new cardboard house.
Get ready for adventure with your new furry friend!
