Toronto Region – Funky Machines (ages 8-13)
** Registration opens March 28, 2025 12pm**

Autism Ontario partners with Little Robot Friends for this exciting Funky Machines program! This workshop will be run in April, May, and June so that children can come to the workshop date that suits them best. Please only register for one workshop!
In this workshop, we’ll be crafting with simple electronics in order to make our own silly robot-like friends! We’ll combine the rotational power of electronic motors with different shaped “arms” and “legs” to provide our robots with interesting ways of moving and getting around. We can discuss and observe how the different shapes affect the movement of the bot and think of things to add that might change the way it moves. Our goal is to help participants learn about some of the systems that keep our everyday lives running, such as electricity, mechanics, and creativity! Get ready to make some funky characters!
While this is an introductory-level workshop, it will be beneficial to have a familiarity with basic computer navigation skills, particularly with using a mouse, touchscreen, and keyboard.
Computers will be provided, but if you wish to bring your own that is fine too. Just remember your power cord!
