North – Kapuskasing – Autistic Mental Health in Rural and Remote Communities

We invite you to join Danielle Nolan (MSW RSW) and Kelsey McDaniel for a workshop focused on autistic mental health and well-being in rural and remote communities. This workshop is intended to support parents and caregivers in understanding their family member’s mental health and provide general strategies, activities, and information on what can be done at home to promote coping and positive mental health.

 

Danielle Nolan, MSW RSW, Social Worker

Danielle is a Registered Social Worker with over a decade of experience supporting autistic children, youth, and families across Ontario. Danielle completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Queen’s University and her Master of Social Work at the University of Toronto. Danielle has experience in child welfare, children’s treatment and rehabilitation, children’s mental health, and pediatric social work in a hospital setting. Danielle has published studies in the journals of Alcohol and Alcoholism, Child: Care, Health, and Development, and Child Abuse and Neglect focusing on neurodivergent populations. Danielle started on the Subject Matter Expert team in 2022 and has been supporting a variety of training and education initiatives including the implementation of the Content Advisory Committee, consultation to Access OAP, and the creation of various workshops, webinars, and resources supporting mental health promotion across the lifespan. 

 

Kelsey McDaniel, Training and Education Supervisor, Autism Ontario

Kelsey has been with Autism Ontario since the Spring of 2018. The majority of her work with Autism Ontario has been supporting families of autistic children and youth in the East Region through service navigation. She has recently transitioned the role of Education Program Coordinator and her current work contributes the OAP Provider List, CommunityConnect, and to the support of the Training and Education Team. Kelsey holds a BA in Disability Studies and has an extensive background in person-centered support services as well inclusive employment support services.
