Webinar - Live - Autism Ontario Presents: Exploring Autism

This webinar aims to introduce autism and neurodiversity. We will discuss autism and neurodiversity, the features of autism, and provide information on how autistic people may perceive and interact with their environment. We will also discuss how you can be an autistic ally, offering practical tips and strategies on how to create an inclusive environment and support autistic people in your home, school, or community.  

This webinar can be helpful for anyone who interacts with autistic people, including caregivers, community partners, educators, and other professionals.  

At the end of the webinar, participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and participate in a live Q&A session with a member of the Autism Ontario team.

Speaker Information:

Danielle Nolan, MSW., RSW, Subject Matter Expert, Autism Ontario

Danielle Nolan is a Registered Social Worker with over a decade of experience supporting autistic children, youth, and families across Ontario. Danielle completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Queen’s University and her Master of Social Work at the University of Toronto. Danielle has experience in child welfare, children’s treatment and rehabilitation, children’s mental health, and pediatric social work in a hospital setting. Danielle has published studies in the journals of Alcohol and Alcoholism, Child: Care, Health, and Development, and Child Abuse and Neglect focusing on neurodivergent populations. Since 2022, Danielle has been an employee of Autism Ontario, supporting a variety of training and education initiatives, including the implementation of the Content Advisory Committee, consultation to Access OAP, and the creation of various workshops, webinars, and resources supporting mental health promotion across the lifespan. Danielle is part of Autism Ontario’s Subject Matter Expert Team. 

Kelsey McDaniel, BA., Training & Education Supervisor, Autism Ontario

Kelsey McDaniel obtained her Bachelor of Arts Honours Disability Studies from the University of Windsor. Prior to joining Autism Ontario in 2019, Kelsey worked in employment support services, connecting youth and adults with intellectual disabilities to employers both in the private sector and the Federal Public Service. Kelsey provided meaningful support to both job seekers and employers and truly believes in the value of neurodiversity across all employment sectors. In her time at Autism Ontario, Kelsey has worked in the roles of Eastern Regional Family Support Coordinator, Service Navigator, and has since transitioned to Training & Education Supervisor. Her work currently contributes to training and education content development, as well as support to the Autism Ontario CommunityConnect Listing and the Ontario Autism Program Provider List. Kelsey is part of the Training & Education department at Autism Ontario.
