Webinar - Live - Autism Ontario Presents: Exploring Autism

This webinar aims to introduce autism and neurodiversity. We will discuss autism and neurodiversity, the features of autism, and provide information on how autistic people may perceive and interact with their environment. We will also discuss how you can be an autistic ally, offering practical tips and strategies on how to create an inclusive environment and support autistic people in your home, school, or community.  

This webinar can be helpful for anyone who interacts with autistic people, including caregivers, community partners, educators, and other professionals.  

At the end of the webinar, participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and participate in a live Q&A session with a member of the Autism Ontario team.

Speaker Information:

Danielle Nolan, MSW., RSW, Subject Matter Expert, Autism Ontario

Danielle is the Social Worker on Autism Ontario’s Subject Matter Expert team. She lives in the East Region and has a particular interest in supporting rural populations. She completed her Master of Social Work designation at the University of Toronto where she gained practicum experience at the Hospital for Sick Children. Danielle has worked in child welfare, children’s treatment, and rehabilitation, and in an autism diagnostic hub. Danielle has experience and training in Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Attachment-Focused Family Therapy, Trauma-Focused Counselling, and art- and play-based therapies. At Autism Ontario, Danielle is focused on working with families to learn how to best support their autistic children/youth’s mental health in their home, school, and community.  

Kelsey McDaniel, BA., Education Program Coordinator, Autism Ontario

Kelsey McDaniel has been with Autism Ontario since the Spring of 2018. The majority of her work with Autism Ontario has been supporting families of autistic children and youth in the East Region through service navigation. Since her transition to the role of Education Program Coordinator, her current work contributes to the OAP Provider List, CommunityConnect, and to the support of the Training and Education Team. Kelsey holds a BA in Disability studies and has an extensive background in person-centered support services as well inclusive employment support services.
