The Journey to Adulthood Discussion Workshop (for parents and caregivers of autistic youth ages 12-15).
A series of six discussions featuring topics relevant to the transition from youth to adulthood. Each session includes discussion and resources around specific topics on the journey to adulthood. Wednesdays, 7-830PM. January 24 - February 28, 2024. IMPORTANT: This session is limited to parents and caregivers of youth (ages 12-15) who are currently in secondary school. Note that there will be a separate Workshop series starting in March for parents of youth ages 16-20.
The Journey to Adulthood Discussion Workshop is a virtual workshop open to parents and caregivers province-wide. The workshop will be presented via a virtual platform (Zoom). Participants will need access to the internet and a laptop/tablet/cell phone with video and speaker capacity.
Topics will include:
Funding (as of age 18),
Consent, capacity, and legal concerns,
Post-secondary options,
Employment,
Advocacy, and
Mental Health.
