The Journey to Adulthood Discussion Workshop (for parents and caregivers of autistic youth ages 16-20).  

A series of six virtual discussions, one per week, featuring topics relevant to the transition from youth to adulthood. Each session includes discussion and resources around specific topics on the journey to adulthood. Sessions will be held once a week from Wednesday April 29th to Wednesday June 3rd, at 7PM each week.

IMPORTANT: This session is limited to parents and caregivers of autistic youth ages 16-20 (we have a session for parents of younger children later in May). 

The Journey to Adulthood Discussion Workshop is open to parents and caregivers province-wide (must live in Ontario). The workshop will be presented via a virtual platform (Zoom). Participants will need access to the internet and a laptop/tablet/cell phone with video and speaker capacity. Please note this workshop is for parents/ caregivers, and not for youth, support workers, or other professionals. 

Topics will include:

  • Funding (as of age 18) including key application dates,
  • Decision making - Consent, capacity, and legal concerns,
  • Community including Post-secondary options, volunteering, community programs, and more
  • Employment
  • Advocacy, and
  • Mental Health.

Registration is limited. 

When:  Wednesday April 29 - Wednesday June 3 (once a week), from 7 - 8:30PM each week

Note: If your child is under the age of 16, there will be a seperate workshop for parents of youth ages 12-17 running Thursday May 7 - June 11, 7:00 - 8:30PM. Registration for that session will open on April 26th here: REGISTER Please register for one workshop only.
