Celebrate the Spectrum is an opportunity for positive action to provide spaces of support and advocacy for our diverse communities — while learning about autism and how we can all make our communities better and more inclusive places for autistic people. This year we are celebrating World Autism Day with a community event for Autism Ontario families in Simcoe County.
Join us for a private booking at the YMCA and experience a sensory open gym, open swim, and crafts!
We will have the centre all to ourselves, allowing families to meet each other, make meaningful connections and enjoy fun activities. Families can choose what activities they want to participate in and can move between the options.
Swim Supervision Policy:
Children under 6 years of age must be directly supervised in the water by a parent/guardian, who is at least 16 years of age, at a ratio of 1:2. All children must be within arm's reach of the guardian in the shallow end.
Children 6 to 9 years of age must be directly supervised in the water by a parent/guardian, who is at least 16 years of age, at a ratio of 1:4.
Children 10 and up are welcome to swim in the pool as appropriate to their swim ability. Children will be asked to perform the facility swim test. Those who cannot yet pass the swim test will be required to remain in the shallow end.
Cost: $5.00/person. (tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable). Maximum 6 tickets per family.
Parent/Caregiver supervision is required. This is not a transfer of care event. The parent/caregiver is required to remain onsite.
Please note that we strive to offer tickets to as many families as possible, but tickets are limited. If, for any reason, you are registered and can no longer attend, please let us know so we can share those tickets with other families.
