Day program for adults with developmental disabilities focused on the arts, healthy living, community interaction and building friendships.

1. Work STEP: Program: Our Facilitator in Training program teaches participants the skills of a paying position with NextStep Support. Upon completion of 300 training hours and a successful performance evaluation, trainees can become employees. Trainees will work with NextStep Support in the Outsourcing of Social and Extra-curricular Activities to public and private high school students. Participants can choose between a Group Facilitator and a Group Coordinator position.

2. Community STEP: Our Community STEP program is designed to support individuals on the autism spectrum or who are facing social and/or emotional challenges, who have support needs for community engagement and who are interested in volunteering and learning new skills. It is a flexible program that focuses on community inclusion, personal development and teaches the skills necessary for members to have flexible thinking, make their own choices and manage challenging or emergency situations.

Northern Elm Assessment and Treatment offers assessments and individual, couples, and family therapy to folks residing anywhere in Ontario.

Nurturing Behaviours Inc. provides one-to-one ABA therapy, and social skills group to children & youth 2-18 years of age with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other exceptionalities. Our goal is to help children and families by providing quality, engaging and fun services that target the strengths and needs of each child. We implement ethical and evidence based services and we want to see every child reach their full potential!

Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychotherapy to meet mental health needs and Psychoeducational Assessments to provide recommendations for IEPs, mental wellness, stress reduction, and parental strategies.

We provide 1:1, dyad, and small group sessions to children and youths in the Waterloo Region. We will provide direct programming, assessments, supervision, behaviour protocols, parent training, and consultations to families.

We provide trainings for professionals and families to assist their learners in developing communication, managing challenging behaviours, and building functional skills. Our product department offers a range of quality materials for PECS users as well as visual aids and tools for organizing supportive learning environments. We also offer consultation services, working with families and educational teams to meet learners’ individual needs and goals.

Climbing is inherently individualized and adaptable. Our therapeutic climbing programs use the medium of climbing to work towards functional goals on and off the wall through consultation with an Occupational Therapist (OT). This therapeutic modality may be appropriate for individuals with a variety of needs and goals including physical rehabilitation, cognitive or learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, anxiety and depression, among others. These programs are highly customized. They are available for adults and children, as individual or group sessions. Pricing is adjusted accordingly. A portion of these programs may be covered by third party health insurance or motor vehicle collision insurance. Please reach out for availability and pricing, or to explore specific goals with our OT. Please call ahead to ensure that we are able to meet your needs at the time of your visit.

Dental Services

One to one supports (in home and community) offered from our recreation professionals, across Ontario. Our services are available for individuals with a disability, and we focus on identifying and removing barriers to participation. Group programs (virtual) are available for all ages 16+ and aim to provide independent skill mastery, recreation, and job readiness skills. Play Away with RNA - this day program offers sensory play and respite care for children with complex behavioural needs. We partner with local businesses to offer new and exciting experiences.

Respite Retreat - Located at our office is a multi bed respite retreat which offers 48 hour weekend care (Weekdays are available upon request). Complimentary therapies are always included in the stay.
All our respite programs have a 1:4 ratio at the most.

In-home care Respite care - our staff come into your home and provide care when you need it the most! There is no weekly commitment to hours.

We offer diagnostic and psychological assessments, caregiver mediated early intervention (JASPER), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and applied behaviour analysis (ABA) intervention. We also provide consultation, training, support, and advocacy to caregivers, professionals, agencies, and schools.

These models coach you as parents in how to help your children at home . We also offer SoCal Thinking @ program to target social skills in higher functional children who are having difficulties a navigating the social world.
