Thank you Peel Volunteers

A BIG thank you to all our past and current volunteers! There have been many families touched by your dedication, hardwork and passion to make a difference in someone else's life. The smiles seen on the children's faces at our events over the last year were priceless. On behalf of all the families that have at some point attended one of our events, we thank you for allowing us to see those smiles on your family members! Our Peel Chapter is always looking for more volunteers! If you are interested in joining our volunteer family, please contact Laura Heimpel, Regional Program and Volunteer
Camp Kodiak is an integrated overnight summer camp for children and teens (6 to 18 years old) with and without learning disabilities, ADHD, and high-functioning ASD (formerly diagnosed as Asperger Syndrome). Our program provides a social skills program, academic tutoring (optional), and 50+ camp activities. We have a 2:1 camper-to-staff ratio around camp, and the ratio is 3:1 in each cabin group.
Our staff include many professionals from the fields of education, child care, social work and recreation. The rest of our staff are college and university students.
Campers and counsellors live together in comfortable log cabins that include washroom facilities with hot and cold running water, a toilet, sinks, and a shower.
All campers must be fully capable of independently looking after their daily care needs and personal hygiene routines. Campers must be able to manage a highly social and active overnight camp experience for 3 or 4 weeks at a time.

Julia's Place Music Therapy Center provides individual and group music therapy sessions run by certified music therapists. All of our programs are adapted for the individuals involved and are primarily based on Neurologic Music Therapy techniques - meaning that we use music in a specific way to access different areas of the brain in order to maintain skills and facilitate change or learning of a new skill (these could be social, cognitive, physical, emotional, sensory, communication, etc). We work with organizations such as group homes, day programs, and schools as well as individual families. We service the GTA, Dufferin County, Oxford County, Norfolk County, and Elgin County.
