Autism Ontario

We are currently seeking individuals with a passion for making a positive impact in the lives of individuals with autism and their families to join our esteemed Board of Directors.

Why join our board?

Impactful Contribution: As a Board member, you will have the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the direction and initiatives of Autism Ontario, contributing to the well-being of those affected by autism. 

Networking Opportunities: Joining our Board provides a platform to connect with professionals, experts, and advocates in the field of autism, fostering valuable relationships that can broaden your network. 

Personal and Professional Growth: Serving on the Board offers a chance to develop leadership skills, gain experience in governance, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. 

Responsibilities:

As a Board member, your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Follow the Board’s organizational model of Policy Governance.
  • Providing strategic guidance and oversight.
  • Participating in regular board meetings.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of policies.
  • Supporting fundraising efforts and community engagement. 

Expectations: 

The expectations of Board Members are the following key commitments:

  • Participation in approximately three Face to Face meetings in Toronto (that typically take place on Saturdays) and seven virtual meetings (that typically take place on Wednesday evenings).
  • Ongoing involvement with various committees as a result of Board Membership. Board members must join at least 1 Board committee.
  • Declare any conflicts of interests.
  • Declare any convictions of crimes.
  • A Vulnerable Screening Sector check.
  • Be a member of Autism Ontario.
  • Attend Autism Ontario’s Annual General Meeting and stakeholder event in Toronto September 19-20, 2025.
