Niagara Tee Up for Autism

Autism Ontario - Niagara Region Chapter hosts a Charity Golf Tournament at Rolling Meadows Golf Club, (located at 12741 Montrose Road, Niagara Falls, ON) each year to directly benefit individuals and families with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Children and Youth Programs

F.A.S.T (Fun, Active, Social Team!) Club: For children and youth with ASD (Ages 5-12) Participants will be divided into teams, and each night will have a “weekly goal” to meet (i.e. waiting my turn, sharing with friends, saying thank you, etc). They will participate in different stations (fine motor focus, gross motor focus, and sensory & exploration) which will seek to offer many opportunities for participants to interact with one another socially, and build their peer relationships.     Adult Supports in Niagara Region

    Our Regional Adult Social Club. This group is for adults 18+ who do not require 1:1 support. Monthly events are organized with the goal of having adults with ASD meet fellow members of their community and have fun taking part in events tailored to their interests.     Ce webinaire a pour but d’expliquer ce qu’est l’autisme et la neurodiversité. Nous parlerons de la neurodiversité, de l’autisme et des caractéristiques de l’autisme, et nous indiquerons comment les personnes autistes peuvent percevoir ce qui les entoure et interagir avec leur environnement. Vous apprendrez également comment être un.e allié.e de la cause autiste, avec nos conseils pratiques et nos stratégies sur la façon de créer un environnement inclusif et de soutenir les personnes autistes à la maison, à l’école ou dans la communauté. 

    Ce webinaire peut être utile à toute personne appelée à interagir avec des personnes autistes, y compris les aidant.e.s, les partenaires communautaires, le personnel scolaire et les autres professionnel.le.s. 

    À l’issue du webinaire, les participant.e.s auront l’occasion de poser des questions et de participer à une séance en direct de questions-réponses avec un membre de l’équipe d’Autisme Ontario.

    Animatrice :

    Danielle Nolan, MSW, travailleuse sociale inscrite

    Danielle est la travailleuse sociale de l’équipe d’expertes en la matière d’Autisme Ontario. Elle habite la région de l’Est et s’intéresse particulièrement au soutien des populations rurales. Elle a obtenu sa maîtrise en travail social à l’Université de Toronto, et fait un stage pratique au Hospital for Sick Children. Danielle a travaillé dans les domaines de la protection de l’enfance, de traitement pour enfant et de la rééducation des enfants, ainsi que dans un centre de diagnostic de l’autisme. Elle est formée et a travaillé en thérapie cognitivo-comportementale, en thérapie d’acceptation et d’engagement, en thérapie familiale axée sur l’attachement, en consultation axée sur les traumatismes, ainsi qu’en thérapies fondées sur l’art et le jeu. Chez Autisme Ontario, Danielle travaille avec les familles pour qu’elles apprennent comment soutenir au mieux la santé mentale de leurs enfants ou jeunes autistes à la maison, à l’école et dans la communauté.

     

    Kelsey McDaniel

    Kelsey McDaniel est avec Autisme Ontario depuis le printemps 2018. Son travail a principalement consisté à aider les familles d’enfants et d’adolescent.e.s autistes de la région de l’Est à naviguer parmi les services. Depuis qu’elle a assumé le rôle de coordonnatrice des programmes d’éducation, elle s’occupe surtout de la Liste des fournisseurs du POSA et du portail CommunityConnect, tout en prêtant main-forte à l’équipe de formation et d’éducation.

    Kelsey détient un baccalauréat en études sur le handicap et possède une vaste expérience des services de soutien axés sur la personne, ainsi que des services de soutien à l’emploi inclusif.
