Burlington-"Creative Edge" Adapted 8 Week Dance Program for Teens with ASD

Youth with ASD, ages 9+ are invited to attend 8-weeks of private dance classes in Burlington at Creative Edge Dance Studio. Our Adapted Dance Program for ASD will teach a variety of dance styles during 8 weeks! See below for more details on each style:

Jazz: This is a dance style based on high energy and expressive choreography. Jazz dance combines components of ballet and modern dance to create its own style, ranging from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body with the accents of musical rhythms. Dancers will learn jazz technique, steps, and combinations to upbeat music.

Hip Hop: A high-energy class focused on teaching fundamentals of isolation and rhythm. Using current and popular music, your dancer will learn techniques from various genres such as dance hall, pop & lock, and breaking. Overall, they will learn to let loose, have fun, and dance with expression.

Lyrical: This class is based on expression through artistic movement. This program will help dancers understand how emotion and expression can be conveyed through dance and the physical interpretation of song lyrics. Slow to medium paced music.

Youth are encouraged to wear comfortable, fitted clothing. Indoor running shoes are a requirement.

Cost: $80.00+HST per participant for 8 weeks. Fees are to be paid directly to the dance studio. Pre-registration with Autism Ontario is required, and reserves your spot in the program.

Notes:

This program is open to individuals of all abilities. We kindly ask that should participants require additional assistance, a support worker be provided at the families cost.  

Supervision of children/youth at this program is the sole responsibility of parents/guardians and caregivers. Caregivers must remain onsite during the program.
