Provincial - Journey to Adulthood

“The Journey to Adulthood - Steps on the Journey” is an opportunity for parents / caregivers of youth 12 – 21 years of age to discuss the steps in supporting their child during the transition from youth to adult. It is open to caregivers of youth ages 12- 21.  

Each session will include the opportunity for caregivers to ask questions, learn about resources, and share information with each other. Together we will explore and discuss what the steps on the journey to adulthood might look like. Note: These sessions will not be recorded. 

Registration is limited and is for all six sessions. Registration for individual sessions is not available. 

Session topics are:

1 – January 26, 2022 – Preparing for Community: We will discuss tips and resources for helping your child develop skills for community. 

2 - February 2, 2022 – Preparing for Advocacy: We will discuss tips and resources for the role of parent as advocate in school and in community. We will also look at self-advocacy skills for your child.

3 – February 9, 2022 – Preparing for post-secondary education: We will discuss tips and resources to prepare for college, university, trades, or other post-secondary education options. 

4 – February 16, 2022 – Preparing for Employment: We will discuss tips and resources to help your child identify, secure, and retain employment.

5 – February 23, 2022 – Preparing for Life: We will discuss additional tips and resources for preparing for life. This session may also include a guest speaker. 

6 – March 2, 2022 – Preparing for the Future: This session will feature additional information and resources on key topics raised during previous sessions. This session may also include a guest speaker.
