Sault Ste. Marie – Painting From A Square

Registration is closed for this event

Painting from a square with Isabelle Michaud

This November 14th, we will be exploring painting with Visual Artist Isabelle Michaud.

She will introduce a simple painting activity using materials that may be available within your home. Many animals can be drawn from a simple square!

Isabelle will demonstrate painting via Zoom as children and youth can test and try many simple animal paintings.

For those who want to experiment with abstract expressionism or other ways to paint, Isabelle will also provide some starting help.

Here is a link to a Youtube video for the example we will work from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZG704D-6O0

Alternative:

If you prefer expressing yourself differently and not following the square animal, you can make random straight lines with a pencil on your canvas, like these artists are doing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaHCuIt4QBI

Each child will receive a blank canvas.

Each household will receive a paint kit and paint brushes to participate. These supplies will be delivered to your home the week of November 9th. Please watch for an e-mail from your Service Navigator confirming date.

Materials Required

  • Paper plate, or an old plastic lid (or a chipped old plate you don’t mind using, colours can wash off later) to mix colours
  • Water in any type of container, to wash off paint brushes
  • Apron or old shirt

Please note : A zoom link will be e-mailed to you the day before the event, on Friday November 13th. Please check your junk/spam mail.

Happy Painting!
