EAST- Everyday Communication Strategies for Parents of Children with ASD
EAST- Everyday Communication Strategies for Parents of Children with ASD
This presentation will explore a variety of communication strategies to help support the language development of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Further, information will be provided regarding tele-therapy as well as the benefits of a Speech-Language Pathologist for children with ASD. Strategies will be explored in the context of children with varying abilities including those who are non-communicative, early communicators, and efficient, consistent, communicators. All strategies discussed will be functional in nature, in that they can be implemented using materials/resources found within, or around, our homes. It is my hope that by viewing this presentation, each caregiver will feel more confident in supporting their child in developing a method of communication that is best suited for them.
Presenter: Emma Kelly is a Speech-Language Pathologist working in private practice with All About Communication.
