Simcoe & York Online Workshop: Helping Parents be Heard by Ontario School Boards

**Registration Opens Tuesday May 7 at 12pm**

  • Do you want to learn how to effectively advocate for your child with their school?
  • Do you know what to ask for on an Individual Education Plan (IEP)?
  • Do you understand the power of an Identification, Placement and Review Committee (IPRC)?

Advocating for your child in the education system can feel overwhelming. Families are often left on their own to understand special education rules and regulations. Parents and students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (where possible) must be actively engaged throughout the education process as full partners in their education to promote optimal learning. This workshop, presented by educational consultant Ed Mahony, is designed to support parents in asserting their rights and teaches them how to be heard in a respectful and positive manner.

Even if things are currently going well, this is the time to take this workshop.

Please note: This event is intended for parents and caregivers ONLY. Autism Ontario will be gathering data and feedback after the session, in order to understand and support family needs.
