This document summarizes the reports gathered by the delegates (researchers and community leaders) who applied for and received bursaries from Autism Ontario to attend the 2006 International Meeting for Autism Research (IMFAR) in Montreal. Be sure to read the introductory comments by Dr. Lonnie Zwaigenbaum, former Chair of Autism Ontario's Research Committee. The bursaries were supported with proceeds from our 2006 Together for Autism™ Campaign (formerly Toonies for Autism™).

Update on Temple Grandin Tickets: Hosted by London Chapter

Centennial Hall box office in London will handle all ticket sales to the public. All tickets will be sold at *$25* per ticket plus applicable taxes and surcharges. 

Individuals/families with a current 2007 full membership to Autism Ontario - London will receive two free tickets.  Anyone in our local community can join and can pay for a membership to Autism Ontario London prior to the event and be eligible for two free tickets as well as there being many other benefits of having a membership.

Individuals, Boards, organizations or other Autism Ontario Chapters can purchase tickets in batches of 50 tickets for $20 each or batches of 100 tickets for $15 each. Tickets will be available at Centennial Hall beginning January 24, 2007 and can be purchased in person, over the Internet, over the phone and by debit and credit card with applicable service fees. UPDATE: Key Messages from the Ministers Reference Group on Autism Spectrum Disorders, January 11 & 12 meeting.

The reference group:

    • reviewed the writer’s version of the report and refined further its recommendations
    • discussed further an illustrative framework to guide a more integrated approach to the delivery of programs and services for students with ASD 
    • provided further feedback to the Ministry of Education and Children and Youth Services regarding policy issues related to meeting the wide range of needs of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders
    • responded to the presentation of the final report including design and format
    • agreed to discuss the presentation of the report to Ministers Wynne and Chambers at a time mutually agreeable to the two Ministers
