AUTISM ONTARIO – RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Since 1973, Autism Ontario has been a key voice for autism in Ontario. Representing thousands of families of children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders through Chapters across the province, we support and advocate for families and their children, promote ASD research, engage the broader community through public awareness and education, and work with provincial leaders to inform public policy which affects the lives of individuals with ASD and their families. Autism Ontario is seeking a talented and creative self-starter to join our dynamic and committed organization as the Resource Development Officer responsible for initiating, building and implementing an integrated fundraising strategy. This is a demanding, challenging and exciting role, requiring an independent, creative individual with demonstrated fundraising, donor relations, and event management skills.

THE POSITION: RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Position Mandate
Reporting to the Executive Director and in collaboration with Volunteer Fundraising Committee and Fundraising Consultants, the Resource Development Officer will be responsible for achieving Autism Ontario’s goals with respect to all fundraising initiatives, including major gifts, annual program and special events.

Position Terms
Full Time. Opportunity for increased remuneration and advancement upon successful completion of probation.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director and Fund Raising Consultants in the development of an annual fundraising program
  • Develops and manages an annual fundraising income and expenditure budget and works within a strategic plan framework which coordinates all fundraising activity through our provincial office.
  • Strategically plans, communicates and implements fundraising programs/events including charity auctions, cultivation and recognition events
  • Oversees all agency administrative activity in relationship to donor cultivation and relationship building
  • Assisting with the administrative tasks associated with the planning and implementation of special projects and events
  • Researches and develops communications and marketing materials, proposals and reports to ensure growth in annual giving
  • Coordinates the direct mail program, including concept, creative, and copy editing, and approval for house and acquisition direct mail packages
  • Initiates the development and implementation of a major gift, planned giving fundraising program including preparation of major gift proposals
  • Systematically builds and maintains relationships with individual major donors, foundations, and corporations
  • Advances and grows government grant programs
  • Develops and manages agency’s on-line giving program
  • Develops, engages and manages effective partnerships with key stakeholders such as the Board of Directors, the fundraising volunteer committee and Provincial Chapters

Qualifications/Experience/Skills
  • Fundraising Certificate from a recognized college or university or an equivalent combination of education and a minimum 3 years experience in fundraising operations and event management
  • Demonstrated track record of successful donor cultivation and solicitations
  • Experience in database management (Raiser’s Edge or Donor Perfect) and Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook)
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and manage budgets, timelines, goals and expectations
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; able to communicate the mission and values of the organization
  • Exceptional report writing, proposal writing, innovative and presentation skills
  • Critical analysis and attention to detail

  • Communicates and leads the organization in building fundraising capacity to move the organization forward
  • Generates new, and modifies existing, approaches which are innovative and procedurally effective
