AUTISM ONTARIO – YORK REGION CHAPTER
JOB DESCRIPTION
MANAGER, CHAPTER DEVELOPMENT & FUNDRAISING (1.0 FTE)
TITLE: Manager, Chapter Development & Fundraising (MCDF)
REPORTS TO: Chapter President or Delegate and Executive Director
JOB SUMMARY: Assists the Chapter Leadership Council (CLC) in managing the growth of the Chapter’s programs and services, and to implement the organizational direction and policy, as determined by the CLC.
SALARY: $44,000 to $50,000/year, plus benefits, depending on qualifications
Established in 1973, Autism Ontario is a province-wide organization striving to create acceptance and opportunities for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). We have volunteer-based Chapters in communities across the province.
We are currently hiring a Manager of Fundraising and Chapter Development for our York Region Chapter. This is a one year contract with the possibility of renewal.
The Manager of Fundraising & Chapter Development provides a superior/professional level of customer service to all internal and external stakeholders and the general public. The four main areas of responsibility are: Chapter Development & Administration, Programs Support, Fundraising, and Community and Client relations.
1. Chapter Development & Administration – 15%
- Work with the CLC to further Autism Ontario’s mission and vision, via the development and implementation of local goals, programs, and policies.
- Work with the CLC to develop an annual budget and operate within it
- Keep the CLC informed about any policy issues arising from operations, legislation, or stakeholder issues
- Communicate regularly with the CLC, including a written report for each CLC meeting.
- Recruit and coordinate volunteers to support Chapter activities
- Remit necessary documentation to Provincial Office in order to adhere to charitable laws
- Maintain a database of members, agencies, service providers, donors, sponsors, and other organizational stakeholders
- Attend provincial meetings
2. Programs Support – 35%
- Oversee all aspects of camp operations, including the hiring and training of camp staff, and processing of camper application packages
- Work with the Camp Committee to ensure compliance with Autism Ontario’s Camp Manual and the Ontario Camps Association standards
- Facilitate the establishment of a camp subsidy evaluation committee
- Support Chapter operated events, workshops, and other learning opportunities
3. Fundraising – 35%
- Working with the volunteers, generate financial resources to sustain Autism Ontario – York Region Chapter and its programs (seek and obtain funding from government, foundations, the corporate sector, etc.)
- Coordinate fundraising efforts from existing and new sources
- Foster and maintain a positive relationship with event sponsors and funders
4. Community & Client Relations – 15%
- Facilitate networking and the development of community alliances
- Maintain contact with appropriate government, business, and other organizational stakeholders
- Promote awareness and understanding of ASD by establishing collaborative working relationships with regional service providers, by participating in fairs, information booths, presentations in the community, etc.
MAJOR INTERNAL CONTACTS:
Chapter Leadership Council members, Realize Community Potential Program Coordinator, Chapter Liaison, Chapter Members, Executive Director, Provincial Office Departments, Staff from other Chapters, seasonal staff.
MAJOR EXTERNAL CONTACTS:
Parents, local service providers, local professionals in the field of autism, and general public, volunteers, donors, sponsors, event participants.
COMPETENCIES:
- Demonstrates effectiveness in working within the voluntary/non-profit sector
- Knowledge and understanding of the non-profit sector, social services and local networks
- Demonstrated success in building strong community relationships and productive partnerships
- Knowledge and understanding of camp environment and Ontario Camps Association standards
- Staff and volunteer management skills and experience
- Demonstrated success in proposal/grant writing and resource generation
- Strong planning skills
- Strong English written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of programs and services
- Experience in administration
- Flexibility for evening and weekend work is required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary education in a related field/equivalent work experience
- Previous experience in the not-for-profit sector and managing volunteers
- Supervisory experience
- Experience managing multiple budget lines
- Interviewing and hiring experience is an asset
- Solid computer skills, including MS Office applications
- Fluency in French is an asset
