Autism Ontario Peel Chapter Family Swimming in Mississauga

Families are invited to come out for an enjoyable family swim at the River Grove Community Centre Centre in Mississauga! The pool will be used exclusively for Autism Ontario Peel for the hour! This event is open to all families with Autism Spectrum Disorder children, youth and adults. LOCATION: River Grove Community Centre Centre 5800 River Grove Ave, Mississauga, ON L5M 4R8

We have exclusive use of the 2 pools and water slide. There are a family, men's and ladies change rooms available. A great, calming way to end the day for the kids and often a chance for the grown ups to get to know each other Come join us!

Family Skating in Peel!
Sunday, Dec 13, 2015 from 5:45pm to 6:45pm
Families are invited to come out for an enjoyable family skating at the Cassie Campbell Community Centre! The rink will be used exclusively for Autism Ontario Peel for the hour! A limited number of loaner skates are available at no cost, if needed. Learn to skate instructors and select skate aids also on hand for assistance.
This event is open to all families with Autism Spectrum Disorder children, youth and adults.

Membership is only $50 (for a family membership) for your entire immediate family for an entire year. You gain access to member free and member only events as well as many other benefits!

Autism Ontario Peel ACTTs:
Peel Autism Community Together through Sports
Using the recreation model developed by the Special Olympics, Peel ACTTs will feature Active Start (6-7pm), FUNdamentals (7-8pm) programs for individuals with ASD.ACTIVE START (from 6-7pm) is a beginner program for individuals with ASD with increased difficulties. Participants will work on following group instruction, develop basic movement skills and follow a routine with visual supports. The goal is for the participant to have the physical skills and fitness ability to participate in physical activities and to have fun! ***Suggested age - 4 to 12 years old***FUNdamentals (from 7-8pm) is an advanced program for children with ASD who are able to follow group instructions. The participant learns physical literacy; the more fundamental motor skills necessary for activities and sports. The intention is for individuals to participate in school and organized physical activities with confidence. The participants will also learn to interact with one another (team environment) and have fun! ***Suggested age - 6 to 12 years old ***
Both programs are overseen by 2 facilitators, who are trained IBI therapists, as well as Autism Ontario Volunteers.
Children should be dressed in comfortable clothes and bring a water bottle. There is a water fountain on site.
