Using the recreation model developed by the Special Olympics, Peel ACTTs will feature ACTIVE START (6-7pm), FUNdamentals (7-8pm) programs for individuals with ASD.

Parents can chose from the beginners group, ACTIVE Start or the advanced group, FUNdamentals, based on their child’s ability.

ACTIVE START is a beginner program for individuals with increased difficulties. Participants will work on following group instruction, develop basic movement skills and follow a routine with visual supports. The goal is for the participant to have the physical skills and fitness ability to participate in physical activities. This runs from 6pm - 7pm.
***Suggested age 4-12 years old.  Parents/Guardians will provide hands-on support their children for this group.

FUNdamentals is an advanced program for individuals who are able to follow group instructions. The participant learns physical literacy; the more fundamental motor skills necessary for activities and sports. The intention is for individuals to participate in school and organized physical activities with confidence. The participants will also learn to interact with one another (team environment) and have fun! This runs from 7-8pm.
***Suggested age 6-12 years old.  Parent/Guardians assist when needed for this group.

The programs will be overseen by 2 facilitators, who are trained IBI therapists, as well as Autism Ontario Volunteers. Please dress in comfortable clothes. Water bottle is recommended. There is a water fountain on site. Spaces are limited to just 10 registered participants per group. Note: 2 NEW leaders this session!

Please note: Children can only be signed up for ONE program.  Due to HIGH interest in this program, a $50 deposit is required.  This deposit will be returned to all who attend a minimum of 6 weeks of the program.

Please note that all programs require a parent or guardian to remain on site and assist where needed during the 8 week duration.   Child care will NOT be provided.  Due to insurance reasons, other siblings are only allowed to stay and watch if there is another adult to supervise them.
