The Halton Chapter Leadership Council is looking for volunteers!

What is the Chapter Leadership Council (CLC)?
Each region of Autism Ontario has a Chapter Leadership Council, or CLC. The CLC is a dedicated group of volunteers that share their time, energy and talent to oversee the Chapter’s general operations, plan and manage activities, and strive to fulfil Autism Ontario's mission to “ensure that each individual with ASD is provided the means to achieve quality of life as a respected member of society.”

Why volunteer with us?
Each year, our Chapter organizes programs and activities for our members to socialize and play, and to simply be themselves. These events require a wide variety of volunteer roles.

Whether you want to volunteer at an event, lend a hand with administrative work, update our website and social media sites, do fundraising or help with event planning, we're happy to have you join our team!

What is the time commitment?
The CLC meets once a month for 2-3 hours. The CLC works very much as a team and additional time commitments depend on what roles and responsibilities each member chooses to accept.

Who can vote?
Members-in-good-standing with Halton Chapter as of Wednesday, March 23 are eligible to vote so please confirm, renew or buy a membership now. Voters must attend the meeting to vote and only one vote is allowed per membership. For example, if you have a family membership, only one member of your family can vote.

Not a member yet? Go to www.autismontario.com, click “Donate Now” on the top right corner and choose “Halton” as your Chapter.

How does the election work?
Nominations are submitted using the Nomination Form. Nominees run to become CLC members and not for specific roles. Once elected, the new CLC members will determine amongst themselves which member will take on which role. The discussion will focus on who has the necessary skill sets, time and willingness to take on specific roles. When more than one person is interested in the same role, the CLC must work to a consensus agreement on who will take that role.

Why Volunteer?
Being elected to the CLC can have many benefits!
• You will make a difference in the life of individuals with ASD.
• You can use your skills and expertise to advance autism awareness in the Halton region.
• You can boost up a resume! Many companies like to see involvement in community activities.
• You can shape the direction of the Halton Chapter in the upcoming year.
• You will develop friendships and become part of something bigger - an amazing team working together to help our ASD community!

Looking for Volunteers

Did you know that our chapter is completely volunteer run?

At Autism Ontario we have Chapters throughout the province which are run by volunteers called the Chapter Leadership Council, or CLC. The chapter draws its membership from parents, other family members, and professionals with a commitment to helping others affected by ASD.

Each year, our Chapter organizes programming and activities for our members to socialize and play, and to simply be themselves. Some past programs include: Sensory-Friendly movies, sports programs, various indoor activities throughout the community, a Nature Program at Mountsberg etc., as well as Advocacy workshops for parents. These events require a wide variety of volunteer roles.

Consider joining our CLC! It’s a volunteer position with a year’s commitment. Join us and:
  • help us plan events and activities,
  • volunteer at an event,
  • lend a hand with administrative work,
  • update our website and social media sites,
  • do fundraising, or
  • sign up for a planning committee

We are happy to have them join our team! The commitment involves approximately 6 hours a month usually in the evening and/or weekend. It is a great way to build up your resume!

Our Annual General Meeting is coming up on April 22nd, so please consider coming out to join our team!

If you are interested, or have any questions, please email halton@autismontario.com for more information.
