Accepting Nomintations for Chair of Presidents' Council
Autism Ontario is currenlty seeking qualified individuals to stand for nomination to this position. We are accepting nominations for Chair of Presidents Council until June 11, 2010. Thank you to Gail Laliberte who is completing her second one-year term (reaching her maximum term) as Autism Ontario’s Chair of Presidents' Council.
Here is the link to the nomination form. http://autismontario.com/Client/ASO/AO.nsf/object/Chair+Nomination+2010/$file/Chair+Nomination+2010.doc
Interested persons should also contact Karyn Dumble at karyn@autismontario.com for additional information on the responsibilities and committments involved in this role.
Here are some things to consider for potential nominees to the Chair of Presidents Council:
- A person best suited for this position has a continuing commitment to Autism Ontario’s Vision, Mission, Focus; demonstrated leadership within Autism Ontario and understanding of organizational principles; the ability to successfully chair meetings of a large number of people with diverse communication styles and experiences; a healthy respect for the opportunities and realities of working cooperatively with dedicated volunteers and staff and; excellent communication skills.
- There may be interested individuals who have not been in an Autism Ontario leadership role for quite awhile, and who may be good candidates at this time in their lives. It is often helpful to directly approach such individuals to determine their potential interest.
- The Chair of Presidents' Council also holds an ex officio seat on the Board of Directors, and as such, has the same responsibilities as other board members (contact Karyn for the document that contains an excerpt from Board Nomination procedures).
- The Chairperson may not hold another leadership role within Autism Ontario (e.g. voting CLC member), and they may not be employees of Autism Ontario. Conflict of Interest policies apply to this position as well.
- If a Chapter President’s term is ending, s/he may consider nominating her/himself, with another member seconding that nomination
- The nominee must be a member-in-good-standing of Autism Ontario
Please forward completed nomination forms to the provincial office (Attn: Presidents Council) by mail, email or fax.
