The GECDSB is currently implementing PPM 140. PPM 140 is a policy from the Ministry of Education which "provides direction to school boards to support their use of applied behaviour analysis as an effective instructional approach . . ." The subject line on this policy is "INCORPORATING METHODS OF APPLIED BEHAVIOUR ANALYSIS INTO PROGRAMS FOR STUDENTS WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS (ASD)."
Several excellent workshops on Autism & Aspergers, Structured Learning & ABA Training for staff have to date been completed, but the board is using "methods" of ABA for a structured learning approach and not implementing 1:1 therapy.
I encourage everyone to read PPM 140 in its entirety. It will have an impact on the IEP process, transition planning, monitoring and reporting.
