Snoezelen Room

Thanks to a $25,000. grant from Ronald McDonald Children's Charities of Canada, and in partnership SD&G Developmental Services,  our chapter was able to equip the area's first Snoezelen Room.

If you are a member of Autism Ontario Upper Canada Chapter, or a client of SD&G Developmental Services, you have access to this great resource for both children and adults.

Free facilitator training to parents, guardians and support workers is available.  The accompanying adult must be trained as a facilitator before the room can be used.

Purpose of Snoezelen:

Leisure for the client

Sensory stimulation

Relaxation and calming effects

Provides a sense of control of environment

Provides an opportunity for choice

Encourages exploratoin and discovery

Time for individual attention

Provides a medium to enhance the development of relationships
