Public Awareness

We are in need of a coordinator and volunteers to help promote public awareness about  the Autism Spectrum by speaking to community groups, as well as represent Autism Ontario at a variety of events in Cornwall, including:

The BABY SHOW Parenting from Prenatal to Preschool, hosted by the Ontario Early Years Centre and held at the Cornwall Civic Complex, located at 100 Water St. East.  Usually held the last Friday and Saturday in October.

Public Speaking

Autism Ontario Upper Canada Chapter volunteers are available to speak to schools, service clubs, community agencies and organizations about autism spectrum disorders, how they affect people and families, and how people in the community can help support and include them.  We are available to give information and tips on including young people with autism or aspergers in community activities such as summer camps, recreational activities, clubs, etc.

Special note for high school, college/university students:  volunteering will look great on your resume and can be applied to many career goals, such as: marketing, business, communications, social and community services, psychology, disability studies ... and more.
