We are very grateful for Central East Region Flexible Respite Dollars from the Ministry of Children and Youth Services and Kerry's Place Autism Services.  These funds allowed us to provide activities for many families in Simcoe County during March Break 2009.

A day of education and inspiration! 

Autism Ontario Simcoe County Chapter is thrilled to have brought you 3 inspirational speakers on June 24, 2010.  Thank you to the over 1000 guests who attended and heard inspirational and informative presentations.

Georgian College, Gym, Barrie

2-3pm Shirley Sutton

Shirley Sutton has worked with children and teens with special needs for over 25 years and is a well known presenter.  She has a private practice in Collingwood and co-authored the book Building Bridges through Sensory Integration.

3-5pm Dr. Peter Szatmari

Dr. Szatmari has worked in the field of autism for more than 25 years.  He has published more than 200 articles and presentations on autism and is the author of the book A Mind Apart - Understanding Autism and Aspergers Syndrome.

7-9pm Dr. Temple Grandin

We are thrilled to be bringing Temple Grandin to Simcoe County.  Recently, an HBO movie starring Clare Danes told Temple Grandin's story.  We will hear from Temple herself.  Dr. Grandin is currently a professor at Colorado University and lectures to parents and educators throughout North America on her experiences with autism.

TRAMPOLINE AT VERTICAL ZONE

DATE:

Friday September 3rd , 2010

TIMES:

(one hour sessions)

10:00, 11:00, 12:00 -reserved for children 10 and under

1:00pm – reserved for teens 11yrs and up

LOCATION:

Vertical Zone, 431 Bayview Drive, Barrie, ON

COST:

FREE to members, $15 per family for non-members

DETAILS: 4 Large Trampolines, each hour there will be 4 kids at each

trampoline.

For jumping on the trampoline, you should wear comfortable clothing. The clothes should not restrict your

freedom of movement. White cotton socks are recommended. Coloured or nylon socks tend to be slippery on

the trampoline.

No. Jewellery is not permitted to be worn on the trampoline. Jewellery can get caught in the trampoline bed

or in the springs and get ripped off. Studs can puncture the skin if the person lands on their ear. If the

jewellery cannot be removed, it must be taped so it won't get caught

ROLLER SKATING AT ODAS PARK

10:00am – 1:00pm

LOCATION:

Orillia District Agricultural Society (ODAS) Park,

4500 Fairgrounds Road (at HWY 12), Orillia, ON

COST:

FREE to members, $15.00 per family for non-members

DETAILS:

Exclusive use of Autism Ontario Simcoe County ONLY!

Skating starts at 10:00AM to 1:00PM

Tickets will be on sale at our office for $15.00 per person!

We will send out an announcement when the tickets have arrived with

directions on how to get them.

 
Please provide the following when registering for our activities: 

Names of all participants; ages of children attending event; specify children that fall under the ASD umbrella and whether you are a member or non-member.

  This information is for reporting purposes for the Ontario Trillium Foundation

. The general public arrives at 1:00PM! Roller skates

are included for all ages, starting at age 2. Roller bladers are welcome, as long as your roller

blades are clean.

Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the Fairgrounds!
