Volunteer webpage ASO Peel

A BIG thank you to all our past and current volunteers!  There have been many families touched by your dedication, hardwork and passion to make a difference in someone else's life. The smiles seen on the children's faces at our events over the last year were priceless.  On behalf of all the families that have at some point attended one of our events, we thank you for allowing us to see those smiles on your family members!

For future volunteers... (see list of volunteer jobs below)

Volunteers are PRICELESS!!  Your participation is always welcome!  If you are interested in assisting with any committee or social event, please complete the volunteer package  .  If you have any questions,  or to submit the volunteer package, please contact us at peel@autismontario.com.  Please put VOLUNTEERING in the subject line as we receive hundreds of emails.  Thank you.

Sometimes families will ask us to offer something that they are interested in, something in their area or were unable to register for...while we try and do our best, the reality is, we are all just parents, like you, who are raising families that are touched by Autism.   Bottom line is, we can only do what we have volunteers for.  So if you have accessed our wonderful events or resources, have sought support or information or benefitted in some way from Autism Ontario Peel, please consider helping to keep the group going.  Without people like you, we cannot continue to offer what we have been able to.

"The problems of the world, or even your community, might seem gigantic. Unfortunately, they often are. You might even feel like there's no point trying to do anything. Honestly, how can one young person really make a dent in everything that needs to be done out there?

Well, think about standing in a completely dark room with no lamps or light switches. You light a candle, and suddenly there's a little light, and the darkness doesn't seem quite as bad. Then, slowly, people join you, until there are a hundred people with a hundred candles. Now the room is bright-and the darkness is gone!

Volunteering is like this. One single person, like one candle, can make a difference. If a whole bunch of "ones" gather together to work on the same problem, they can make it better-or even go away. Every person is important, and every person can do some good. Like you!" "Remember: When you see an area of need, don't just assume someone else is "taking care of it."     pbskids.org

Thank you to the outgoing CLC!  Despite most being busy parents (who have children diagnosed with ASD), they have found time to volunteer and touch the lives of so many in our community. We thank you for all the great events and holiday parties that made us all feel like we were not alone on this journey.  We thank you for the information and the advocacy on behalf of our families and our children.  And most of all, we thank you for building this community of Autism Ontario Peel Chapter and for selflessly giving of your time.  Without them, and the help of the many volunteers, we would not have a Chapter.
