Creative Expressions

DATE: Every Thursday evening from FEBRUARY 28TH - APRIL 4TH, 2019.

Autism Ontario Peel Chapter presents Creative Expressions art workshops instructed by PAMA (Peel Art Gallery Museum + Archives) and made possible by generous funding from the Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon Community Foundation. 
These relaxed workshops are designed for children and adults with developmental and physical challenges, and help foster creativity and personal self-expression.
Participants will enjoy six sessions that are each 1.5 hours in length.
Sessions include:
-Clay Sculpture
-Acrylic Painting
-Printmaking
-Watercolour Painting
-Mixed Media
-Collage

This event is open to ASD individuals only.

This event is not supervised.  Parents/guardians are expected to stay during the workshops and are encouraged to assist if the need arises.
This workshop utilizes materials that may stain or damage clothing.  Participants are encouraged to wear old clothes and shoes.  Protective aprons will not be provided.

Autism Ontario Peel ACTTs: Peel Autism Community Together through Sports  

Using the recreation model developed by the Special Olympics, Peel ACTTs will feature 2 programs: 

1) ACTIVE START (from 6-7 pm) is a program for individuals with ASD with increased difficulties and who generally need TA support at school. Participants will work on following group instruction, develop basic movement skills and follow a routine with visual supports. The goal is for the participant to have the physical skills and fitness ability to participate in physical activities and to have fun!  

***Suggested age  - 4 to 12+ years old*** This is a recommended age only.  If your child is slightly older and you think they suit this program, please register. 

*This program requires caregivers to support their child and participate in the full duration of the each session for all 10 weeks. 

The program is overseen by 2 facilitators, 1 is a trained IBI therapist and an assistant, as well as Autism Ontario Volunteers.

DATES: Mon, Jan 14, 21, 28, Feb 4, 11, 25, Mar 4, 18, 25, Apr 1/2019 from 6-7 pm
LOCATION: Conestoga Public School, 300 Conestoga Dr., Brampton, ON L6Z 3M3
COST:  *The cost is $25.   

2) FUNdamentals (from 7-8 pm) is an advanced program for children with ASD who are able to follow group instructions independently and generally do not require TA support at school. The participant learns physical literacy; the more fundamental motor skills necessary for activities and sports.  The intention is for individuals to participate in school and organized physical activities with confidence. The participants will also learn to interact with one another (team environment) and have fun!  

***Suggested age - 9 to 15+ years old ***  This is a recommended age only.  If your child is slightly older and you think they suit this program, please register. 

* This program requires caregivers to remain present for the entire 10 weeks of the event and participate when needed. 

The program is overseen by 2 facilitators, 1 who is a trained IBI therapist and an assistant, as well as Autism Ontario Volunteers.

This is a program for individuals with ASD with increased difficulties.
