Annual Chapter Meeting: Door prizes & Guest Speakers Aiden Lee and Constable Rob Rezek
Thursday, Apr 26th, 2018 from 7-9:00 pm
LOCATION: Loblaws, 5970 Mclaughlin Road Mississauga
This is a chance for our Peel community to come together and meet eachother as well as meet the Chapter Leadership Council of Autism Ontario Peel and find out what we have planned for the upcoming months. We will also be electing the new 2018-2019 Chapter Leadership Council.
1) Aiden Lee
"My name is Aiden Lee, I am 14 years old. I have the triple A’s - Autism, ADHD, Anxiety. Oh there is one more A I would like to talk about - ART.
I am currently working on a project called ‘Art from the heart’. It’s about awareness for all ABILITIES, another A. You see, art is communication with colour, shape and design. It needs no voice for speech. There is no room for discrimination or prejudice. There is no barriers to cross when you are painting, just soothing colours, designs and pictures. So far I have taught over 630 kids and young adults to date in public, separate and private schools in Oakville, Mississauga, Burlington and Hamilton. This is only the beginning".
2) Constable Rob Rezek, Youth Education Bureau, Peel Regional Police
Const. Rob will be speaking to us about the Vulnerable Registry. The Vulnerable Person Registry (VPR) is a service in Mississauga and Brampton that allows caregivers of vulnerable persons to submit vital information to a database that will be used by police and other emergency services during a crisis situation.
Guest speakers, light refreshments as well as door prizes, we hope to see you all there!

The Chapter Leadership Council (CLC) is elected by chapter members (in good standing thirty (30) days prior to the Annual Chapter Meeting (ACM). The CLC members are responsible for the direction and management of the chapter. You may nominate yourself. Elections are held at our ACM each spring and positions are for a one year term. CLC members are responsible for acting in the best, long-term interests of Autism Ontario - Peel Chapter and its community.
You don't have to have a personal connection to someone with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), but you do have to have the passion to help this organization move forward, and to improve our community. You must also have a membership with Autism Ontario. If by chance, your membership has expired, you can renew at the ACM.
For more information about what it takes to be on the CLC, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org or go to our website at: www.autismontario.com/peel
We also have non-voting positions available (called Members at Large) to those who would like to be involved with advocacy, events and/or the organization of the Chapter but who do not want to run for a voting position. Please express your interest to email@example.com
Many of you know that Autism Ontario Peel is run solely by volunteers. Currently we have only 5 CLC members but with a Chapter this large, we need to have more members on the CLC.
Without your help, we will not be able to continue offering the events and tireless advocacy efforts that we have been offering. As most of us are parents ourselves, we know how precious your time is...but if we all help a little, we can keep this Chapter going strong!
Please join us! If you are interested, please click here to fill out our Nomination Form (you can nominate yourself).
Please mail forms into address on form or email form to: firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com
Reminder: Nominations for the Chapter Leadership Council closes on March 24, 2018 at 5:00 pm.
If you are interested, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Biographies of all nominees standing for election will be distributed starting March 26, 2018.
