Online fundraising using CanadaHelps

Cyclists in this year’s Cycle for Autism have the option of creating an online giving page, to raise donations for the Cycle for Autism electronically using CanadaHelps.  This is an alternative to the tradition paper-based form available above.

CanadaHelps is a secure, online non-profit organization that links donors and charities.  When a donation is made online, the donor receives an immediate, secure PDF tax receipt, issued by CanadaHelps, by email.  CanadaHelps then disburses the funds (less a 3% transaction fee) to the designated charity. 

Some of the benefits of using an online donation page:
• Cyclists do not need to manage cash or cheques from donors (funds are collected by credit card from the donor and deposited directly to the Autism Ontario bank account)
• Reduces the administration of donations and tax receipts for Autism Ontario as all of this is completed by Canada Helps
• Donors receive secure PDF tax receipts immediately following the donation

To create your own online giving page for the Cycle for Autism 2009, visit:   http://www.canadahelps.org and follow the links to Create a Giving Page.

When setting up your Giving Page, please note the following instructions:
• In the Message to Charity box, please note “Please direct donations to Autism Ontario – Ottawa Chapter”  (As a Chapter of Autism Ontario all donations are collected under the same Charitable Registration Number, this message ensures that funds raised from the Cycle for Autism Ottawa are directed specifically to the Ottawa Chapter)
• When asked to choose a charity for funds raised, search for Autism Ontario and please choose the following:
AUTISM ONTARIO - 119248789RR0001 
1179A KING STREET WEST, SUITE 004, TORONTO, ON, CA, M6K3C5

Please feel free to personalize your fundraising page with a personal picture and message.  If you would like to use the Cycle for Autism logo, please contact Tracy Davidson.

Once your Giving Page is created, you can send the link to your personal giving page to friends, family, colleagues and supporters to raise funds in a secure, online format.
 
Important

Please bring a copy of the list of donations made to your online Giving Page to the Cycle for Autism so we have a record of the funds you have raised leading up to the event to qualify for prizes in different categories.
