Autism Ontario is committed to offering inclusive, and most importantly, supportive programs that foster growth and opportunities to build social skills. With this in mind, Autism Ontario has increased its commitment to provide each camper with the appropriate level of support needed to participate in all activities. This year, staffing will be increased to ensure a maximum ratio of 1 staff to 2 campers is met. This will affect the number of spaces available in camp each week. To maintain a fee structure that our families can afford, we will be making a number of changes:
1) We are committed to providing 1 week of camp to each applicant:
Because of space limitations, we will not be in a position to offer campers more than one week of camp. Depending on when you register and the level of supports required, families may have to accept a second choice of weeks. We will do our very best to try to accommodate family choices. You can help by registering early and providing us with the information to determine need. For full details, please read the Summer Camp Application Instructions.
2) Changes to Summer Camp Schedule & Registration Fees:
The list below shows the weeks of camp, locations, age groups, and registration fees. For more details, please read the Summer Camp Application Instructions.

Each year, the Chapter raises over $100,000 in grants and donations to reduce the cost of Summer Camp for our families. In reality, families only pay for less than 1/3 of the cost of a space at camp. The situation is challenging when faced with shrinking grant opportunities that are never guaranteed for more than one year. Our fundraising initiatives help offset any loss in grant revenue, but again, competition is immense and we struggle to respond to all the needs. We need families to understand the relationship of fundraising to fees and support our efforts to make programs available to everyone no matter their financial situation.
This year, in addition to the registration fee, we will also be assigning a book of 10 raffle tickets to each family to sell on behalf of the Chapter. You will have ample time to sell them since the draw will take place at Thanksgiving.
3) Autism Ontario Funding Program can help cover registration in Summer Camp:
The Niagara Region Chapter's Summer Camp provides one to one support workers and so it is eligible for the Summer Support Worker Funding program through our provincial office. All individuals under 18 who require 1:1 support and are registered in our camp are eligible to apply for support worker funding for the summer. If approved, you can apply the funding to cover the cost of camp registration or any other expenses you incur to provide a 1 to 1 support worker for your child. Applications are being accepted from May 1 - June 2. All applicants are then entered into a random draw to choose the funding recipients. For more information about how to apply for the Summer 1:1 Funding, please click here.
4) New Chapter Staff:
Tricia McNeil is our new Program Coordinator. If you have any questions about Summer Camp or need assistance with the registration process, please contact Tricia at email@example.com or 905-682-2776 x205.
