Summer Support Program 2008
With the end of the school year fast approaching many families quickly turn their focus to summer camp activities for their children. As many of you know, Autism Ontario, London and District Chapter has been supporting camp activities for our members for several years. With the support of the London Firefighter’s Association successful Valentine’s Gala, we have been able to provide camp activities for hundreds of children over the past several years. This year once again there was not a Firefighter’s Gala, but we are pleased to announce that because of other very successful fundraising events in 2007 we will be continuing the summer support program for the 2008 summer season.
Guidelines for Summer Camp Subsidy Program 2008
- There is a limited amount of money to be distributed to our applicants. The maximum amount is $500.00 per child with autism, per family.
- Due to a high and increasing demand for these camp subsidies, it is important that your application be received by the deadline. An assessment will be made after all applications are received as to the amount of money that will be distributed on an individual basis. Your application must be received by June 1, 2008 in order to be considered. If you do not know your camp particulars, please send an estimate, and indicate this on your application.
- While the camp subsidy is not limited to camp expenses, there are certain things we cannot cover. These include, but are not limited to: 1. Respite programs, 2. Meals for campers or their support workers, 3. Clothing for camp, 4. Camp extras such as souvenir t-shirts. If you are not sure, please contact us for further information.
- What we will cover: 1. Cost of summer camp at a camp of your choice, 2. Cost of support worker, 3. Cost of specialized programs such as IBI, or ABA., 4.
