Effective Family Advocacy: Coping, While Fighting for Your Child!

Sometimes, families of children with autism spectrum disorders seem hesitant to confront human service systems.  Or, they come on too strong and create unanticipated problems for themselves.  This interactive session will discuss reasons families are reluctant to raise concerns, and argues that they can help their child/family more, by learning systematic advocacy approaches.  The widely-respected "Step Approach Model" for Effective Advocacy created by Dale Munro will be discussed in detail.

Dale Munro, MSW, RSW, FAAIDD is a clinical supervisor, family therapist and behavioural consultant with Regional Support Associates in London, Ontario.  He is a well-known speaker who has worked in the field of autism spectrum disorders for 37 years.  He has an active private practice; has won awards for his work; and has published articles in many international books and journals.
