Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC)
What Can SEAC Do For Your Child? - SEAC reviews issues of policy in special education. It also makes recommendations to the Board regarding such issues as the process of identifying students as exceptional, the range of placement, services provided, and transportation Members can be very helpful to individual parents and students because of their knowledge of their associations' concerns as well as the concerns of the Board's personnel. If you have a specific concern, a SEAC member will probably be able to suggest a course of action, direct you to the appropriate staff to help you, and advocate for you and your child on an individual basis. The Hamilton-Wentworth chapter of Autism Ontario has a SEAC Representative in the Hamilton public board who report back to the chapter with updates on educational issues.
