The 2008 REEACH Awards

The REEACH Awards, Recognizing Excellence in Educational Assistants for Children, were established to celebrate the achievements of educational assistants who work with exceptional students in Hamilton.

OnTuesday April 29, 2008, the Awards Banquet was held at the Marquis Gardens Banquet Centre in Hamilton. The evening included a buffet dinner, award presentations and prizes. Well over 400 people attended the event and throughly enjoyed this most meaningful tribute to Educational Assistants, who do so much for our children.

Our guest speaker, Brian Amarelo, entertained and touched the crowd with his memorable experiences growing up, and his gratitude to the people who focussed on his ability, rather than his disability.

Many thanks to the Planning Committee: Kelly Anderson, Judy Colantino, Paula Grond, Ed Mahoney, Carol Malec, Amanda Ramdyal. Special thanks to the St. Thomas More Guitar Band, who played and sang beautifully.

There were seven awards presented, as well as 70 plaques to all the Educational Assistants who were nominated. Here is the list of nominees and award winners by school board:
