Social Skills offered by Autism Ontario 

Teen PEERS Program (12-15 year olds)

Thursday, 1 June 2017 from 1:00 PM – 4:00

This 12 week course is an evidence-based, caregiver-assisted social skills intervention for Teens 12-15 years old with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, and other social and behavioural problems. This is to register your interest in the program only.  Registering does not gurantee your admittance into the program.  For details click here.

In order for the program to run, we require a minimum participation rate. When this rate is reach, registered guest will receive notification of the program start date.  It will run ONCE a week for 12-14 consecutive weeks.

New Roots Therapy offers counselling and wellness services to individuals, couples and families which are supportive, respectful, and appreciative of diversity. They offer a six week play skills group "Ready, Set Play" for children 6 and under.  For details click here.

Kerry's Place Autism Services facilitates several social skills groups for children and adults throughout the year.  For more information on current groups click here.

The Friendship Lab (Theory of Mind and Social Skills Training):  The Friendship Lab is a parent-assisted social skills programme designed for children ages 7 to 12 with a diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome or high-functioning autism targeting friendship-making and perspective-taking skills (also known as Theory of Mind). Through a highly engaging and visually structured lesson, children are taught to think about how others think and provided with opportunities to practice friendship skills through game play. While children receive instruction, parents meet separately to learn how to support their child's skill development. Pre- and post-intervention assessments are conducted.  Space is limited to no more than 8 participants per group. For details visit

Monikidz Social Group for girls - This group is for girls who require 1:1 support.

L.I.N.K.S. is a program for young adults with developmental disabilities offered by Variety Village. L.I.N.K.S. stands for Lifestyle, Independence, Nutrition, Knowledge and Sports. The program enables its members to develop confidence and learn life skills essential to their independence in the community. Aspects of the programs include time in the gym or pool, while others include music, drama, shopping and computers. The L.I.N.K.S. program is a "social lesson" which gives participants much-needed life skills, such as leadership, physical activity and friendship. For more information click here.

I Believe In Miracles Inc. is a therapy, tutoring, and adaptive child care agency, offering a wide range of programs.   Services include: Intensive Behavioral Intervention, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Pathology, Tutoring, Social Skills as well as Respite.  They offer Social Skills program for kids aged 4-6 and 7-14 as well as Social Skills Camp and After School Programs.  For more details click here.

Social Cognitive Therapy - Thornhill, ON:  Social Cognitive Therapy (SCT) explicitly teaches people who have not naturally acquired social skills to understand how and why the social world works.  It uses various methods and materials, in particular Social Thinking® as developed by  M.G. Winner. Our goal is to build a strong social foundation so that the student can both give and receive social cues appropriately.  Social concepts are taught at a deep practical level, becoming second nature so that students can apply them to real life situations. Kids Clinic/Integrate Health Services:  Offers several social skills groups.  These group programs provide the opportunity for your child or youth to learn, relate and communicate with their peers in a group environment. Children and youth will be encouraged to develop the self-awareness and self-confidence they need to incorporate these skills into their world.  For details click here

Social Edge Training for Life is an ABA service provider in Durham Region which aims to provide group and individual training programs that give you a ‘social edge’ in life. Social Edge offers the Secret Agent Society (SAS) social skills program for 8-12 year olds that helps kids crack the codes of emotions and friendships, bullying and friendly joking, conversations and coping.  For details click here.
