Durham Region Police Services Autism Registry
Autism Ontario Durham Chapter is pleased to announce our partnership between the Durham Regional Police Service and the official launch of the Autism Registry for families that live in Durham Region on June 22, 2015. The DRPS Autism Registry will allow caregivers to enter information about individuals with autism under their care. The record will be available only to DRP personnel and will include updated photographs, physical descriptions, past wandering patterns and even advice as to how best approach the person. This information can assist officers in communicating with, attending a residence of or dealing with an emergency involving an individual with Autism. To learn more about the Autism Registry click here. Thank you to the DRPS for providing this information.
To access the DRPS Autism Registry:
- visit their website at drps.ca

No access to the internet but would like to add your child or family member to the registry please contact the Family Support Coordinator MOnique Johnson at Autism Ontario who will gladly complete the registry for you over the telephone. Monique can be reached at 905-723-8405.
Also, a member of the Chapter Leadership Council regularly provides autism training during DRPS officers training days.
Kawartha Lakes Police
Here is the process needed to get a copy of the Autism Registry for Kawartha Lakes. Regardless of whether the family lives in town or on the outskirts, it is the same form (just a different logo).
If your family is in town, you must take the completed form with an attached photo to the Lindsay Office on Victoria Avenue. Anyone else must drop their form and picture off at the O.P.P. office on Angeline Street.
This amazing opportunity is available to ANYONE with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
