Description:
This non-competitive and fun program facilitated by Grandview Children's Centre and fully sponsored by the Autism Ontario Realize Community Potential Program in Durham Region is designed to teach the basics of several indoor sports with a low participant-to-instructor ratio. Each week a new sporting activity, such as indoor soccer, floor hockey, basketball, volleyball and more will be introduced. Participants will receive weekly "About my Multi-Sport" stories to prepare for upcoming activities. Visual supports to aid with participation will be available and can be individualized upon request. Siblings or friends are welcome to attend with the diagnosed child but must meet minimum age requirements. Separate sessions are offered for children age 8 to 12 and youth age 13 to 17 on Thursday evenings from October 1 to December 3, 2009. Pre-registration is required by September 15.
