Council Member Profiles  2012

Rick Grylls:  is a retired grandfather who has been a member of Autism Ontario Sudbury and District Chapter for a number of years.  Rick has been a member of the Chapter Leadership Council for the last three years serving the last two as the President.  He is the fundraiser, advertisement, and World Autism Awareness Daycoordinator.  Rick has let his name stand for another year on the Chapter Leadership Council.

Jenne Wilson:  is a graduate from Laurentian University with a BA in psychology.  She has been working for eight years in the field of autism.  Jenne obtained her Autism and Behavioural Science Diploma from Seneca College.  Jenne's work in autism has led her to amazing countries such as Japan and Italy, and she is now residing in Sudbury, working as a private therapist.  Her goal's for the families, children, and adults in Sudbury is to find the best quality of life for all people touched with autism.  Jenne has been on the Autism Ontario Sudbury Chapter Leadership Council for the past two years as Vice President and Secretary.  She has let her name stand for another year on the Chapter Leadership Council.

Ruth Shepherd:  has been a volunteer with the Sudbury Chapter of Autism Ontario for almost three years. She spent ten years working with adults with developmental disabilities as well as autism in both Sudbury and Vancouver.  She now homeschools her two children.  Her eldest was diagnosed with autism at the age of two and is now seven.  She is looking forward to another year volunteering with Autism Ontario.

Mike Gauthier:  I was born and riased in Sudbury, Ontario and have a close connection to the community.  I have a charming six year-old son, Nicholas, who was diagnosed with autism in 2009 and an energetic four year old daughter, Liliana, both of whom are now in school.  I am a lawyer practicing ini Sudbury in the areas of Personal Injury law representing and dedicated to the right of injured people and their families, as well as Corporate Law representing large to small businesses in various aspects of business law.  I am also involved with Autism Ontario as a member and Treasurer of the Chapter Leadership Counsel for the Sudbury and District Chapter.  I have appreciated being involved in such an active council and having the opportunity to try to help to further its reach and the opportunities it offers, and hope to continue to do so in the future.  I currently also sit on the Board of Directors for Child Care Resources.

Nicole Cameron:  I am married and a mother of two children, a little girl named Karli who is seven years old and a little boy named Brett who is nine years old.  Brett was officially diagnosed with autism (Asperger's syndrome) this past July.  By profession I am a Registered Nurse and have had experience in a variety of settings, which include ICU nursing, clinic settings, etc... I have been nursing now for a total of eighteen years.  I thoroughly love to help and take care of people.  Over two years ago we started the process of investigating my son's interactions with others through a pediatrician.  Last year I decided that I needed to take some time off work to put all my efforts into figuring out the needs of my son, Brett.  When I have a passion for something I put my heart and soul in it.  I would like to become an active member of Autism Ontario because I want to learn more and help others who are going through similar circumstances.  I feel that I could be a positive advocate for the CLC.  Autism has touched my life in so many different ways, it has been challenging at times but also so rewarding.  These are really special people and I have such a soft spot in my heart for them.  My goal and energy is to make others aware of how special these people are by creating a greater awareness of their abilities and the need to be understood by others.
